Following on from this answer, do you have any effective techniques for keeping cats out of your garden?

I have tried an ultrasonic repellent which I found fairly useless as it turns out a lot of the local cats are pretty deaf. Has anybody else had a better experience with one?

Saw that as "lolcats are pretty deaf" – Emu Oct 10 at 13:09
@Emu, this is pot to kettle, but perhaps you spend too much time on the internet? – Rich Seller Oct 10 at 18:42

Grow cilantro in your yard. If that is not an option, buy a bunch of cilantro, soak it in a bucket of water overnight, and spread the water in your yard. Cats don't like the smell.

Elan, I would accept this but cilantro (coriander) is an annual, and I'm looking for year-round options if possible – Rich Seller Oct 11 at 9:28

Coffee grinds supposedly keep cats out. You can get them free from Starbucks and they are also good for your garden.

I've had some success with citrus peel, chopped into quarters and scattered around the bedding.

I've had some success with an ultrasonic scarer - but there's one answer that is very effective, if you can get some from a zoo - BIG cat manure.

Scatter some of that lion and tiger poo around, and it repels cats, rabbits, and other pests, like muntjacks - works every time, and there is not much else that turns the muntjacks around.

Just a little tricky to get hold of ...
